AI for Business Club Inaugurated at St. Joseph’s College
The Department of Commerce (Shift II), St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli, formally inaugurated the AI for Business Club on August 11, 2025, at the Jubilee Building. The initiative aims to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into commerce education, equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and ethical perspectives necessary to navigate the evolving business landscape.
Programme Objectives
- To create awareness among commerce students on the application of AI in modern business operations.
- To bridge academic learning with industry practices and emerging technologies.
- To inspire innovative and ethical AI-driven business solutions.
- To prepare students for careers in AI-integrated business environments.
The programme commenced with a prayer song, setting a solemn and aspirational tone for the proceedings. Dr. B. Augustine Arockiaraj, Coordinator, Department of Commerce (Shift II) extended a cordial welcome to the dignitaries, faculty members, students, and the guest of honour, Mr. Nataraj Selvaraj, Manager, CodeBind Technologies, Tiruchirappalli.
In his felicitation address, Dr. D. Kumar, Deputy Principal, commended the department for its proactive initiative, emphasising the importance of technological literacy in shaping competent business professionals.
Dr. Vinoth Kumar J, Club Coordinator, outlined the vision and mission of the AI for Business Club, detailing planned activities such as expert lectures, skill-development workshops, and collaborative projects aimed at fostering innovation and interdisciplinary learning.
The chief guest, Mr. Nataraj Selvaraj, delivered an insightful keynote presentation on “Emerging Trends: AI Tools Transforming Business Operations.” He elaborated on the integration of AI across key business functions including marketing, sales, operations, finance, human resources, business intelligence, and cybersecurity. Highlighting both the transformative potential and the inherent challenges of AI adoption, he underscored the need for balancing efficiency with ethical responsibility.
As a token of appreciation, the guest was honoured with a shawl by the Deputy Principal and presented with a book by the Coordinator.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. A. Ignatius, President of the Commerce Association (Shift II), acknowledging the contributions of the management, faculty, guest speaker, and student participants in making the event a success.
