“ Violence against Women” Awareness program
St. Joseph’s Colege Gender Champion Club organised Competitions on Gender Sensitization and Elimination of Violence against Women
St. Joseph’s College Gender Champion Club organised a Special Awareness Programme in collaboration with Tiruchirappalli District Judiciary on the theme “Gender Sensitization and Elimination of Violence against Women”. The purpose of this programme was to create awareness and educate students on gender discrimination, inequality and eradicate the violence against women.
The programme began with a prayer song followed by Tamil Thaai Vazhthu by the Fine Arts Team. Dr. G. Irudhayaraj, Vice Principal, Student Affairs (Shift I) and Coordinator of Gender Champion Club welcomed the gathering.
Rev. Dr. S. Mariadoss SJ, Principal, spoke on the significance of the theme and felicitated the occasion. After the programme, a series of competitions were conducted viz., Essay Writing, Poetry Writing, Elocution and Painting. There were 178 students participated in all the four events. The students actively participated and showcased their talents, creativity and commitment towards gender equality and addressing issues related to violence against women.
The programme was followed by the visit of the Officials from the Tiruchirappalli District Judiciary. They witnessed and assessed the creative ideas of students in the form of sketches and writings and appreciated the effort of students. This programme provided a platform for students to express their thoughts and ideas, creating awareness and encouraging a positive attitude towards gender sensitization. At the end of the programme, as a token of gratitude, all the judges were honoured by college management for their valuable support and presence. Ms. P.
