St. Joseph’s College Upholds Jesuit Commitment through Scholarship Distribution.
St. Joseph’s College reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting students from underprivileged backgrounds by providing financial assistance, in alignment with the Jesuit vision of holistic education rooted in compassion and social justice.

As part of this commitment, the College organized the JES Day (Jesuit Education Scholarship) scholarship distribution ceremony at Rev. Fr. K.P. Joseph Hall, located within the College ARRUPE Library complex. During the event, financial aid was granted to students pursuing their education in the current academic year. For several years, the institution has consistently extended such support to students from economically disadvantaged families, first-generation learners from rural areas, and orphans – carefully evaluating each case to ensure aid reaches those in need every semester.
The event was presided over by Rev. Dr. Pavulraj Michael SJ., Rector, and attended by Rev. Dr. M. Arockiasamy Xavier SJ., Secretary, and Rev. Dr. S. Mariadoss SJ., Principal. A total of ₹14 lakh was distributed to 350 deserving students. Rev. Dr. S. Arul Oli SJ., Coordinator of the JES, delivered the welcome address.

In his presidential address, Rev. Dr. Pavulraj Michael SJ., Rector, stated: “This event is a testament to the College’s steadfast support for students who are committed to achieving their dreams. Beyond financial aid, the College also fosters students’ holistic growth through initiatives like the breakfast and Midday Meal schemes.”
Offering his felicitations, Rev. Dr. M. Arockiasamy Xavier SJ, Secretary said: “Through education, we are shaping students to become responsible and compassionate human beings. Parents must recognize this and encourage their children to grow into future leaders – leaders who will one day return to their alma mater with pride and gratitude. That is the true success of this initiative.”
In his Felicitation address, Rev. Dr. S. Mariadoss SJ., Principal, expressed appreciation for the parents who took time off work to attend the event. He called on them to work hand-in-hand with the College and Faculty to guide students along the right path.
A few of the scholarship recipients and their parents shared heartfelt reflections on how the Jesuit Education Scholarship (JES) had positively impacted their lives and education.
The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. J. Saleth, Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil.
